I finished this painting as a donation for my close friend's heart surgery. Life's trials can be arduous for Indigenous women to overcome, such as paying healthcare costs, health, having low income, being a single mother, or working multiple jobs to pay bills, etc. The gold background represents the capitalism of the highest living/healthcare costs in the U.S. today. The woman appears emotionally and physically drained but still facing forward toward a hopeful future. The hummingbirds are spiritual guides and blessings, motivating her to keep pushing forward.
